Things to bring and consider when attending a Dragon Boat Regatta
WEAR
- Club jersey
- Pants, capris, shorts, or leggings (Sports gear, not denim or other everyday wear). You need to be comfortable when paddling.
BRING
- Paddle
- PFD. All Regattas require Transport Canada approved PFDs. Some do not allow CO2 inflatable PFDs. Check first to be sure.
- Portable camping/lawn chair (smaller is better)
- Seat pad if you have one
FOOD
- Healthy snacks for you in a sealed container (nuts, fruits etc.)
- Packed lunch in sealed container (ants or birds may visit us if food around)
- There may be food vendors but not recommended while racing. Need to avoid heavy, long digestion type foods and there could be line-up.
- Food to share like fruit or cookies is fine
- Grazing on food throughout the day is better than eating a big meal
- Eat a substantial breakfast like oatmeal or equivalent high in carbs.
IN A BACKPACK
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Water bottle and water (water may not be available at the race site so bring plenty, electrolyte replacement is good too especially if hot)
- Dry clothes to change into
- Dry shoes or sandals to wear between races
- A large plastic bag to keep backpack dry if rainy
- Poncho or large plastic bag if rainy
OPTIONAL OR WEATHER DEPENDENT
- Rain jacket and rain pants
- Lightweight long sleeve shirt
- Small pack of tissues or wipes
